Samsung Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and Tab S12+: Price, Specs and What’s New

Samsung announced its new flagship Android tablets, the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and Galaxy Tab S12+, on September 30, 2026, and they went on sale in select markets on October 7. Both run on MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500 chip and ship with Android 17 and One UI 9, and Samsung promises seven years of OS and security updates. The Ultra starts at $1,399 and the S12+ at $1,199, each with 12GB of memory and 256GB of storage.

This guide covers the confirmed specs, how the two models differ, and who each one suits. We have not tested these tablets yet; the details below come from Samsung and GSMArena’s published specifications.

Key Takeaways

  • Same chip, two sizes. Both tablets use the MediaTek Dimensity 9500, a 3 nm chip, with a 120Hz Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, an S Pen and microSD storage expansion up to 2TB.
  • The Ultra is bigger and better equipped: a 14.6-inch screen, an 11,600 mAh battery, a second (ultrawide) rear camera, Wi-Fi 7 and up to 16GB of memory with 1TB of storage.
  • The S12+ is lighter: a 12.6-inch screen, 10,600 mAh battery and about 553 to 555 grams, versus about 692 to 695 grams for the Ultra.
  • Seven years of updates means a tablet bought in 2026 is promised OS and security updates well into the next decade.

Price and Availability

The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra “will start at $1,399 (€1,569/£1,399) for the 12GB/256GB option,” GSMArena reported, with 12GB/512GB and 16GB/1TB versions above it. The Tab S12+ “has a starting price tag of $1,199 (€1,329/£1,199) for the 12GB/256GB option,” with a 12GB/512GB version as well.

Both went on sale October 7 in select markets, in Gray and Silver. Retail prices can move after launch, so check current pricing before you buy.

Specifications are from GSMArena’s spec sheets and Samsung’s published guide. GSMArena lists two weights for each model, depending on version.

What Both Models Share

Both tablets use the same processor, display technology and S Pen. “Both the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and Galaxy Tab S12+ are powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chipset and run Android 17-based OneUI 9,” GSMArena reported, adding that the software “gets a multi-window layout with up to three sections, the latest Galaxy AI features, and more.”

Samsung says both models offer 120Hz Dynamic AMOLED 2X displays, microSD support for up to 2TB, and compatibility with the Pro Keyboard, Book Cover Keyboard Slim and Samsung DeX, its desktop-style mode. The S Pen comes in the box.

Both batteries support 45W fast charging, which GSMArena lists as a full charge in about 95 minutes. “Real-world battery life depends on how you use the tablet, with lighter tasks like reading and browsing lasting far longer than demanding gaming or video editing,” Samsung notes.

Where They Differ

“The biggest differences are screen size, top-end memory, the camera, and connectivity,” Samsung says. Besides its larger 14.6-inch display, the Ultra “offers a top configuration of 16GB Memory with 1TB storage, adds an 8MP ultra-wide rear camera alongside the 13MP main lens, and steps up to Wi-Fi 7.”

The S12+ is more compact and lighter, with a 12.6-inch display. It tops out at 12GB of memory with 512GB of storage, has a single 13MP rear camera, and uses Wi-Fi 6E, according to Samsung.

The size difference is real in the hand. The Ultra measures about 326 by 209 mm, while the S12+ measures about 290 by 188 mm, per GSMArena.

Which One Should You Buy?

Choose the Tab S12 Ultra if you draw, edit video or run several apps side by side, and you want the largest screen, the most storage, or Wi-Fi 7. The 14.6-inch display gives the three-app multi-window layout the most room.

Choose the Tab S12+ if you carry the tablet daily, read or take notes on it, or want to save $200 on the base model. It keeps the same chip, display technology, S Pen and update promise.

Consider waiting or a cheaper model if you mainly stream video and browse. A flagship at $1,199 and up is more tablet than those tasks need.
